The NSJRU Academy program is a 5 week program designed to get our players in our 4 Village Clubs (Drummoyne, Hunters Hill, Mosman and Norths Pirates) ready for the season with skills and drills sessions combined with some rugby fitness.
The Academy is open to all players of all ability from ages U10s to U16s. Whether you are playing rugby to have fun with your mates or aspiring to make representative selection, we welcome all players to our Academy program.
The Academy program is managed by Mike Cross and his team at TryTime Rugby, who have extensive coaching experience across all age groups. Mike has extensive experience as a coach including head coach of the NSW U19 and u15 teams. We work closely with Norths Seniors to include coaching and other resources that will enhance the program and show our players the rugby development pathway.
Kick off date is Sunday 1 February. All sessions will be at Taplin Oval, Drummoyne.
U10s, U11s and U12s will train from 3pm on Sundays and finish around 4:15pm.
U13s, U14s, U15s, U16s will train from 4:30pm on 1 Feb, 15 Feb and 1 Mar until 6pm and 4:45pm on 8 Feb and 22 Feb until 6:15pm.
The cost per player is $125 for the 5 week program. The first 250 players to register will also receive complimentary Academy kit, including a training top.
For the U13s and above age groups, there is also the option of adding in 3 sprint sessions with the renowned Roger Fabri and his Speed Academy team of coaches. The sprint sessions will be held fortnightly at 4pm on 8 and 22 Feb and 8 Mar for 45 minutes prior to the start of the Academy session. The cost for these sprint sessions is $100. If you are considering adding this program to the Academy program, please understand there is an expectation that players practice the skills and drills they have learnt at each session at least a couple of times before the next session. If they aren’t able to put in the extras between sessions this additional program may not be for them.

As per previous years, all players attending Academy will need to have registered with their club prior to attending our first session on 1 February – this ensures all players are insured.
